DAY 68: Actress/Friend of Cherry Lane Deborah Hedwall
Frank Rich called her "thrilling." If you saw her in her Obie and Drama Desk nominated role in Manhattan Theatre Club's SIGHT UNSEEN you might understand why. Not to mention any number of plays, on any number of stages, here in NYC and throughout the world. Her turns on Showtime Networks's THE BIG C, YOU DON'T KNOW JACK with Al Pacino and Vera Farmiga's HIGHER GROUND should have made you notice her for sure... though for us, she first grabbed our heart in her turn as the mother in the incredible EMMY Nominated series I'LL FLY AWAY. It's no wonder this longtime Ensemble Studio Theatre member has been steadily working and teaching in this town for over 25 years. She credits her own teachers, Sanford Meisner and Uta Hagen, for launching her into her life as an actor, director and teacher - and now she guides others, helping launch those "willing to meet face to face, heart to heart, the demands of their artistry and explore their greatest potential." To say she's our kind of woman is an understatement.
