The American Dream and The Sandbox were originally produced at Cherry Lane Theatre in 1961 and 1962 as part of ALBARWILD, a collaboration between producers Richard Barr, Clinton Wilder and playwright Edward Albe, designed in particular to give production opportunities to emerging playwrights. This is the program that inspired Cherry Lane Mentor Project, now in its 10th anniversary season.

PHALLACY
By Carl Djerassi
with
Vince Nappo and Carrie Heitman
Directed by Elena Araoz
She's a top art historian in a world famous museum. He's a distinguished professor of chemistry. She searches for artistic truth through connoisseurship; he finds scientific fact through cold material analysis. Between them stands the object of her affection: a revered classical statue long thought to be a Roman original...and he just proved it to be a 16th Century cast. But is it now worth less? Is it now less beautiful? As personal rivalries and professional reputations clash, how far will each go to prove the other wrong? Find out in the American Premiere of PHALLACY, the intriguing and topical new play by award-winning and renowned scientist and writer Carl Djerassi.
"Phallacy is an intriguing play...fast moving and embracing a host of questions and human situations that are rarely touched upon in modern theatre..." - Robin Clark, Nature
"A satirical black comedy about academic infighting...a happily satisfying mix of broad humour and thought-provoking comment." - Gerald Berkowitz, Theatreguide London
"Carl Djerassi is a scientist, artist, philosopher and mensch all in one." - Stephen Jay Gould
LIMITED ENGAGEMENT ONLY!
May 15 - June 10
