by Sean O'Casey
produced by Paul Shyre and Noel Behn
with Kathleen Murray, Peter Falk & Alvin Epstein
Barbra Streisand, Understudy and Assistant Stage Manager
The show ran for 430 performances, longer than an O’Casey play had ever run anywhere.
Legend has it that while Noel Behn was running the Cherry Lane, there was a talented young woman who had just moved to Manhattan to pursue her career, and Noel was gob smacked by her talent. At the time she had nowhere to live, and Noel gave her an internship at the Cherry Lane and allowed her to sleep in the dreassing room as long as she hid her belongings so no one but he and she knew she was living there. Her name was Babra Streisand.
