Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King

Hassan update

The Daily Show’s Hasan Minhaj DEBUT Off-Broadway Show - Oct 15 thru Nov 15 - EXTENDED JANUARY 7 - 30!

“It’s wonderful. You’re going to laugh. Probably cry. Because you, unlike me, can still feel.” –Jon Stewart

“One of the most authentic voices to come onto the storytelling scene in years. Above all else, Hasan is a master storyteller.” –Catherine Burns, The Moth

Homecoming King, the story of the “New Brown America,” is based on true events from Minhaj’s first generation Indian-American experience. Navigating between two worlds, it follows Minhaj’s arrival in the US, meeting the sister he didn't know he had, interracial love, racism, bullying, and his family’s quest to achieve the elusive American Dream.

"I'm trying to have a nuanced conversation about bigotry, acceptance, and forgiveness, even though these subjects can be embarrassing," said Minhaj in a press statement. "We all know morality and life aren't black or white...they're Drake. When it comes to racism, hopefully this show will help us have a real discussion and get our '50 Shades of Drake' on. I'll share my stories which hopefully will inspire others to share theirs."

Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King is written and performed by Minhaj and directed by Greg Walloch. Scenic design is by Sara C. Walsh, lighting design by Sarah Lurie and costume design by Kristen Buckels. The show is produced by Mike Berkowitz and Mike Lavoie.
